Weverton!

This post is about Weverton!  The mild mannered, sweet, 14 year old son of Cica who has spent most of his life in COPAVI.  Weverton took some of my favorite photos, and definitely demonstrates his sense of humor.

Weverton works in COPAVI at the agroindustry, and helps to process organic brown sugar.  He likes his work, and likes that earns enough to be able to buy clothes, go to the fair, and help his mom.

Weverton doesn't know exactly what he wants to do when he grows up, but he intends to continue to help his mother.

He has lots of friends in the settlement!  This photo was taken at Adriano's birthday party.

This one is of his youngest brother, missing a few teeth.

This is Mateus, another brother...a  photo shot after we discovered the "fish lense" function in the camera.

Weverton's favorite place in the settlement is the Saião.  He likes to swim and play there with his friends.  (See video!)

Music from SACI ARTE.

Check out some songs from my friends in SACI ARTE, militant-musicians from MST-PR.

Now, these are some of my favorite boys from the MST., and it's been a pleasure getting to know, hang out, jam, and have beers with Levi, Denilson, and Rodrigo.

Music is a powerful force in the MST, and an animating force for the movement's activist-musicians.  They are incredibly talented and an example of what quality, do-it-yourself social movement culture can be.

Ana Paula: COPAVI

Here are some photos that Ana Paula took!  Ana Paula is 15 years old, and the twin sister to Paulinho.  She works in the sugar agroindustry, and studies quite a bit.   Many of these photos are from her 15th birthday party, which is a big deal for girls in Brazil.  She dyed her hair blond, and friends and family were in attendance.

Ana Paula studies quite a bit, and has private lessons.
